Bilad al-Orb (Arab Lands)

a special edition of the famous nationalist anthem, performed by Sabah Fakhri. The song was originally composed in the 1930s by Mohammad and Ahmad Flayfel to the lyrics of the nationalist leader Fakhri al-Barudi, who had patronized Sabah Fakhri's rise to fame in the 1950s. Sabah named himself "Fakhri" in honor of his patron Fakhri Bey. In this recording, he pays tribute to his mentor by singing his most widely remembered song, which has created the cornerstone for patriotic songs throughout the Arab World.


Souriyya ya Habibati

a song performed by Najah Salam and Mohammad Salman in 1973, three years after President Hafez al-Asad came to power in 1970. The music and lyrics are by Mohammad Salman.


Ya Zalam al-Sijn (Oh Darkness of Prison)

Composed by Mohammad & Ahmad Flayfel to the lyrics of the Syrian journalist Najib al-Rayyes, who wrote this poem while serving in jail at Arwad Island Prison (off the coast of Tartus) for defying the French Mandate in 1922.

Humat al-Diyyar (Guardians of the Homeland)

It was adopted as the official anthem after an official competition to pick the best anthem, and as a result, both Mardam Bey and Flayfel received the Medal of Honor, Excellence Class, from President Hashim al-Atasi.


Watani Habibi (My Homeland My Love)

This operetta was composed in 1958 by the musician Mohammad Abd al-Wahab to commemorate the Syrian-Egyptian Union. It was performed by Abd al-Halim Hafez from Egypt, Sabah from Lebanon, Warda from Algeria, Fayzeh Ahmad and Najat al-Saghira from Syria. The song praises Arab unity and is considered one of the finest patriotic songs of the Arab World in the 20th century.


Min Qasiyun (From Mount Qasiyun)

This song was made by Dalal al-Shimali, and played repeatedly on Syrian Radio and TV on the day of the Correction Movement that brought President Hafez al-Asad to power on November 16, 1970.


Ya Shabab al-Orb (Oh Arab Youth)

This is the official anthem of the Baath Party that came to power on March 8, 1963.


Ana Souri wa Ardi Arabiyya (I am a Syrian and My Land is Arabic)

Performed by the Syrian actor Abdullah Al-Rashi in the 1990s. Popular in Syria during the era of President Hafez al-Asad.


Biktob Ismek Ya Biladi (I Write Your Name My Country)

This song, performed by Joseph Azar, was one of the inspiring anthems of Syria during the Arab-Israeli War of 1973. It reached very wide popularity when performed by Syrian satirist Duraid Lahham in 1978 in the political play Kasak Ya Watan (Cheers to the Homeland)


Wehda Ma Yiglibha Ghalab (A Union That Cannot Be Defeated)

One of the most prominent songs made during the Syrian-Egyptian Union in 1958-1961. It was performed by the Egyptian singer Mohammad Qandeel in 1958.
