Ibrahim Hananu, commander of the Aleppo Revolt of 1919 and co-founder of the National Bloc, is seated in the middle. Next to him, in Ottoman fez, is Abdul Rahman Kayyali, another Bloc co-founder and Aleppo MP in Parliament. Behind Kayyali is Saadallah al-Jabiri, who became the leader of Aleppo after Hananu's death in November 1935 and was appointed Prime Minister, then elected Speaker of Parliament, in 1943-1946. Back row (first from left) is Nazem al-Qudsi, the future president of the Aleppo-based People's Party who became president of Syria in 1961-1963. Third from left (back row) is Qudsi's ally Rushdi al-Kikhiya, chief founder of the People's Party who became Speaker of Parliament in 1949-1951.
