Nuri al-Ibish, the Damascus notable who brought football to Damascus in 1919

Ibish, a future cabinet minister, introduced football to Syria, and played against British troops in 1920. The Syrian team, trained by him, won the match and were rewarded with a gold watch each by King Faisal I
